However, above that threshold, the phase of the output shifts 180 degrees; that is, the response is the opposite of the input (input down, response up), so they partially cancel each other out. This is why a laundry machine jumps as it spins up, but becomes more stable the faster it spins. I'd bet that the auto engineers designed the engine

I don't know what this is - the engine vibrates when idling. It's not running rough, RPMs do not flucuate - it idles steady at around 700-800 RPM. But the entire engine vibrates, enough so, that you can
So far the dealer has replaced the engine mounts, torque converter, front axles (as per PUMA request), reprogrammed the DME and EGS. The engine idles at about 750 - 800 RPM. If you slightly power brake the engine and raise the idle to 900 RPM or over the vibration goes away. The vibration also goes away when you put the trans in P or N.
I have about 800 miles on my 2017 M240i and I have noticed from Day 1 that occassionally on morning startups the engine would shake the car for a second or 2 before it settles at idle.
Rough Idle when A/C is off, Car Shakes and Exhaust Sputters. After doing a deep search on this forum I can't find an answer to my problem. I have a '97 M3 Sedan with 116k miles on it. Recently my car when its cold it has an excelent idle but when it gets warm and I start driving the idle kills me!. I stop at a red light and turn off the A/C and
Only shook during startup and reverse. Now it shakes me in my seat during idle and sounds like a muscle car and I don't mean that in any positive sense. I'm unloading my 2013 320i before more headaches arise. We had some good times. Changed plugs and coils - did nothing. Put the old spark plugs back in - seems marginally better less shake.
cpw said: So my '03 330Xi has a very rough idle and vibration especially at lights in gear. It shakes the steering wheel and causes a nasty vibration of the plastic shroud around the steering column. It pretty much goes away if I put the car in park. When I put it in gear, there seems to be a noticeable load on the motor and the vibration starts. gehzKWx.
