The filter kit has replacement O-rings and drain plug copper washer.

Mercedes Benz, like most European manufacturers, use a two stage oil pan. There is an upper oil pan and a lower oil pan. The lower oil pan allows you to change the oil pump and remove the timing case cover without having to drop the engine oil pan. That job is not impossible but it is a lot more involved.
