A friend sent me a link to a Google Map route that sort of opens on my iPhone. It's wonky there, and I don't think I can actually navigate with it on the phone, but opens up fine on my PC. I'd like to import it into my Garmin 396 and when I type in a search here I come up with mostly ancient posts. To export overlay data, you must back up your data ( Backing Up Data). Select an option: To export all BaseCampā„¢ data stored on your computer, select My Collection, and select File > Export > Export 'My Collection'. To export one or more items or a list, select one or more items or a list, and select File > Export > Export Selection. To Map a route using our bike route planner and then export either a GPX Track if you have Garmin/OSM basemaps or a TCX file if you donā€™t. If you want turn-by-turn directions and have basemaps installed, the following settings on your Edge 605/705 will help: Routing => Bicycle; Guidance Method => Off Road (some people swear by On Road/Distance)

Sync data from other fitness sites to Strava.
Yes, recent changes to Garmin Connect do (finally!!!) allow .gpx imports into the Course functionality. Just send the resulting Course to your watch through GC (no need to copy to the newfiles folder), and you should get TbT directions. I did this with a 200 km gpx route from ridewithgps.com over the weekend, and it worked fine.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the directions and click "Save to My Maps"/"Ajouter Ć  "Mes cartes"". You'll have to choose an existing map of yours or create a new one.

OpenStreetMap is the free wiki world map. If the above export fails, please consider using one of the sources listed below:
